While protocols can help stabilize an otherwise volatile sitution, all protocols break down in the face of something they were not designed to cope with. I don’t undersand why people think they can anticipate every single future encounter they’ll ever have and codify them before they happen. So much focus placed on protocol isn’t practically helpful.
Not that protocols aren’t a sexy fantasy.
