A new improved form of Femdom:

Take heart – now there’s hope for the busy would-be kinksters who simply don’t have time for those D/s ettiquette courses. A recently dicovered Tantric manuscript found in the Earl of Edgerton’s library (that is, under the cracked floorboard of the coat closet in the pantry next to the library) describes the long-forgotten art of becoming less “dommier” or “subbier” than the next person, while still managing to increase one’s inner pleasure. And since the Earl is already not having sex with more women than he can handle, he has graciously offered to have copies of the manuscript made and passed into the public domain.

It is just about impossible to feel either submissive or dominant when you are ill:

I have been down with a cold, which started in my sinuses, and proceeded to move down into my throat and chest. When I would get home from work, an employee is on vacation so I could not call in sick, all I wanted to do was just curl up on the couch with a blanket and watch TV. I found it a real effort to get up and do my normal house chores. Also, I began to feel some resentment of E’s requests, thinking, “Why don’t you just do it yourself, you have two legs…” Obviously, not the best mindset for a 24/7 sub.

Excerpted from a long essay by Madam A on American Boundoir:

[Mistress Marlene’s] pet peeve about what she calls the ‘Instant Domme Syndrome’ that, according to her, she has been watching develop all over the world and in essence is the downfall of Femdomhood. According to Mistress Marlene, this Vanilla Domme beliefs that too much book learning and fantasy and not enough hands on reality before claiming a title that should be bestowed by one’s peers has largely contribute to this phenomena.

Mistress Marlene claims the the Vanilla Domme is bored one day and decides to recreate herself into one of the most powerful personas on earth. This vanilla imposter adds the title of Mistress in front of her name and begins the lie. This vanilla popsicle’s ego fools her into believing in herself and the vanilla Domme jumps into displaying what she thinks a Domme is. In her quest for importance she does not even recognize the difference between dominating and domineering. Of course, neither does the submissive until his heart and soul are caught in her web of deception.

According to Mistress Marlene, using a title is misrepresenting domination via title and content and is not a wise entrance into a new dream.

I wish I’d caught this thread that Gracie started on Sex Kitten earlier:

I agree that the very basis of a domme being paid for her services makes her, in part, cater to the submissive. If baby ain’t happy, she makes no money. In this sense, to domme is topped from the bottom ~ in many cases. There are many, too many in my opinion, folks which work bdsm this way. Of course, ‘real’ folks aren’t exempt from this. I know many people in real life loving relationships who acquiese to the demands of a lover who is on the bottom (like any other lover, it’s about aim to please at times ~ and being ‘into bdsm’ does not mean you automatically have your head wrapped right about your relationship). But does this mean that a pro domme automatically offers a cheaters version of the experience?

I’ve been meaning to write about the relative merits of the phrase Risk Aware Consensual Kink as an alternative to Safe, Sane, and Consensual. Since Mistress Milliscent does so in her new blog I’ll point you to her discussion:

We are however playing with toys, equipment, and techniques which could cause injury if not used correctly. Therefore implying that bdsm is 100% safe is not proper.

Sane is the second word in the mantra. I think that for the purposes used it fails miserably. Those of us in the bdsm community know what is meant by the word sane as we use it, but that is only because we think about it, and we discuss it amongst ourselves. The meaning will escape the vanilla public who most likely quickly think about the “Safe and Sane” label on the fireworks they bought last 4th of July.
